House Crashers takes on Atlanta and remodels a 1930s kitchen. These hip homeowners, Dan Bush and Caroline Dieter, have a lot of style but their kitchen is lacking anything cool. House Crashers crashes Boston and finds homeowner John Robinson, who just purchased his grandmother's outdated 1960s home. In fact, every room could use an update, but the den in this house is just screaming for one. From bright orange/red carpet, old knotty pine paneling and 1970s light figures, it was just one dark and dank den aching for a crash. To modernize this living space, licensed contractor Josh Temple, along with his Boston team, tackle every inch of the space transforming the den into an urban-living lounge complete with reclaimed hardwood floor ceiling treatment, metallic cork floors, hip bar niches and a recycled paper-slate-like wall with a brand new entertainment center. Chicago's Ashley and Brian Riordan have a rather ordinary finished basement, and a guestroom that is literally useless. We're going to take this problem and turn it into a solution by moving the television under it and creating a stylish textured tile wall treatment around it. We'll add new cabinets and a hidden Murphy bed in addition to sleek new flooring and updated kitchenette. Then the crowning jewel will be the custom table with lighted storage.
This family room addition is stuck in the '50s. Vinyl floor, wood paneling and an outdated fireplace add to the overall retro feel. This space is going to be re-invented into a sleek lounge by completely removing the fireplace and replacing it with a new skylight as well as a custom cabinet with two automated TVs and a bar. There will also be a floating table, stone-accented wall, 4x6 beams used for crown molding, and two fire features to give this room a sleek, stylish finish.

Starting with tearing out the wall dividing the rooms, this renovation will completely change the space, with a new face on fireplace, skylights, completely new kitchen with custom range hood, bamboo and vinyl floors and sliding shoji screens around the walls.
This boring game room was not cutting it for the man of the house. He wanted a place to watch sports with his buddies with the volume turned way up! The popcorn ceiling is covered with a pattern of random-length lumber, and the tiny window is replaced with a door leading out to the backyard. A DIY television screen is "painted" on the main wall and surrounded with red laminate tiles for a punch of pizzazz. Finally, a cork floor is installed along with a window seat, which includes storage for various television components.
This 10-year-old room addition was dilapidated and in desperate need of an overhaul, plus this tiny house didn't have much room for entertaining. Transforming the space into a lounge begins with tearing down the three rotting walls, rebuilding them, and covering them with stone. The ceiling drywall is removed, exposing a beamed ceiling, and "carpenter" windows are built and installed. Finally, a stand-up bar is built using galvanized metal and suspended shelves are hung from the ceiling.
This young homeowner needs help with her project house. Not one room in the house is complete, so Josh takes his pick and takes on her bedroom! Her blank slate of a room needs some attention! So they create floor-to-ceiling bookcases and create a custom library ladder. To complete this bedroom, they create a unique fabric headboard and upgrade to a queen-sized bed!
Josh and crew head to upstate New York to crash DIY Network's Blog Cabin. The cabin's main living space, the great room, is a shell when Josh arrives. In three short days, he builds out the room, giving it a rustic feel. The fireplace surround is covered with stacked stone and the house's original mantel is reused. The hearth and entryway are laid with locally harvested blue stone. The vaulted ceiling is covered with white knotty pine planks, and surrounding ceiling trim is attached and stained. A freetanding closet covered with wood shingles is built near the entry, and a hinged barn door is built and attached. Finally, a farm bench is created using reclaimed wood.
These homeowners love to cook and bake but find that their tired and outdated kitchen just isn't working. The peninsula cuts the kitchen in half, leaving very little work space for prepping pastry or nightly dinners. To help alleviate the tight quarters, the peninsula is removed and new floor cabinets are installed, giving a more open feel and adding storage. A bright solid surface comes in to replace cracked counter tiles, and old flooring is transformed with wide wooden planks. Then, open shelving made with salvaged lumber replaces the old cabinets. Finally, a built-in pantry is removed and replaced with a repurposed piece of furniture.

A desk is built from salvaged wood to look like a riddling rack, and the plaster ceiling is covered with decorative tiles. Finally, a comfy sofa and TV are the finishing touches that make this room a great space for the family.
This time Josh and the team are taking on a 1980s loft addition on a craftsman home. The goal? To update the space so that it fits in with the rest of the house. Then, the space gets some extra surprises when the crew brings in a modern gas fireplace and glass bifold doors.
Oversized furniture dominates this couple's master bedroom, and the result is a cramped and uninviting space. These homeowners want a relaxing space that's calming after a hectic workday. The full-sized bed is replaced with a queen-sized platform bed faced with plank flooring. The planks are carried up the wall and onto the vaulted ceiling to make the headboard the focal point of the room. The unused window seat is ripped out to provide additional square footage. Dated shag carpet is replaced with soothing stone tiles for a zen-like feel. A TV is mounted on the wall and flanked with protruding niche boxes, and a console is built for TV components. Finally, the double-door entry is reduced to a single door and the bathroom door is replaced with opaque glass for a sleeker look.

Josh and his team transform the back wall into a partial wall with a cutting-edge fire feature and rock surround. The dated textured ceiling is covered with framed panels, and the bedroom entry is moved. Then, wood flooring replaces the old carpet. They also add a slate surround to the fireplace, wainscoting on the walls and create a moveable window seat.
