A Many Splendored Thing

Bayliss’ und Pembletons Ermittlungen im Fall der erwürgten Angela Frandina führen zuerst in eine Telefonsex-Agentur und dann weiter in einen Sado-Maso-Club.

Bolander asks Kay if she would double date with him and Linda, to try to take the pressure off his first real date. A slain phone-sex operator is found clutching a note naming her boss as the perpetrator, Bayliss and Pembleton investigate. Munch has trouble dealing with Bolander's happiness, so he crashes the double date and makes everyone miserable. A man is shot to death over a pen at the library, Lewis and Crosetti investigate and find a man with a pen fetish. As Bayliss looks into the murder he begins to get involved.

Jaloux de Bolander, Munch tente de lui gâcher la soirée qu'il a organisée avec Linda, la serveuse. Munch parle avec amertume de la futilité de l'amour... Pembleton et Bayliss enquêtent sur le meurtre d'Angela Fradina, retrouvée étranglée, serrant dans la main un petit billet qui indique un certain "Ed" comme étant le coupable. Ils découvrent qu'Angelina travaillait pour le téléphone rose, Ed était son patron... Tout ce commerce du sexe choque Bayliss qui croit en la noblesse de l'homme. Il a droit à un cours de morale de Pembleton qui lui fait comprendre que chacun a une double personnalité et doit vivre avec ce qu'il y a de mauvais en lui.
