今回の新作アニメ発表はシリーズ40周年を記念したもの。このマンガの物語は黙示録的な世界を舞台としています。物語は、危険な武道の達人であり後継者でもあるケンシロウという男が核の荒野をさまよい、暴力的な凶悪犯から弱者や罪のない人々を守ることを中心に展開する。旅の中で、彼は他のマスター武道家や、新世界の王の座に就いた「兄弟」ラオウを含む過去の人物たちと戦わなければなりません。

In his travels, he must contend with other master martial artists and figures from his past, including his "brother" Raoh, who has crowned himself the king of the new world.
