武當派的張翠山因為和邪教的堂主白眉鷹王的女兒殷素素相戀而為江湖名門正派所不齒，幸好武當派掌門張三豐深明大義，接納了他們和兒子張無忌（馬景濤 飾）。 然而所謂的名門正派並不罷休，這天齊集武當派要求張翠山講出他的結拜兄弟邪教的金毛獅王謝遜的下落，張翠山為人俠義，不肯出賣兄弟，為了不讓師傅犯難，和殷素素一起自刎於六大派面前。 張無忌就這樣成了孤兒，由於無忌從小就身中奇毒，張三豐每隔一段時間都要為他輸入真氣為他續命，也正由於這樣，無忌從小就不能練武，在武當派受盡年青一輩的欺負。 一次偶然，無忌掉下了武當山崖，由此開始了他奇妙的江湖之旅...
