PC Nicholson looks forward to his 21st birthday, However, he soon finds himself placed in an impossible situation, setting in motion a chain of events that end in tragedy. Meanwhile, Vernon becomes the agent for a local brass band, which Lord Ashfordly regrets when he asks them to perform for a group of American war veterans.
