How Does the FDA Approve a Drug?

Have you ever taken an over the counter medication for heartburn? How about an antibiotic for an ear infection? At some point pretty much all of us have visited a pharmacy to pick up a drug, but likely didn't consider where these drugs come from or how they are made. Whether you're talking about something for seasonal allergies or your grandparent's arthritis medication, the act of bringing a drug to market is long and complex.
