Mike Pinnochio, inzwischen zu einem der engsten Weggefährten von Thomas Hobbes geworden, bemüht sich mit Hilfe des dubiosen Chip-Fälschers Freddie darum, Hobbes endlich zur Flucht in die „reale“ Welt zu verhelfen. Und es scheint zu funktionieren. Doch als Hobbes endlich das Portal erreicht hat, durch das Santiago zwischen den Welten pendeln kann, trifft er zum zweiten Mal auf die mysteriöse Inga Fossa, die ihn davon überzeugen kann, dass seine Rückkehr in die Welt erst in Frage kommt, wenn er Santiago in „Harsh Realm“ endgültig ausgeschaltet hat. Fossa behauptet, dass Santiago Pläne schmiede, auch die reale Welt zu erobern, damit diese seiner Herrschaft in „Harsh Realm“ nicht gefährlich werden kann. Spielt die mysteriöse Frau ein doppeltes Spiel? Bei dem Versuch, „Harsh Realm“ zu verlassen, wurden Florence und Mike Pinnochio von Walters und seinen Männern gefangen genommen und zu Santiago gebracht. Nun steht Thomas Hobbes Entschluss, in „Harsh Realm“ zu bleiben, endgültig fest! Mit der überraschenden Hilfe von Inga Fossa gelingt es Hobbes, seine Freunde aus ihrer Zelle zu befreien. Doch die Rolle von Fossa wird immer undurchsichtiger: Ist sie eine Vertraute von Santiago? Gehört sie zu Waters? Und warum hilft sie Hobbes bei der Verfolgung seiner Ziele? Ist ihre Unterstützung wirklich ganz uneigennützig?

Sophie continues to look into Hobbes' death by following Inga Fossa into a run down military installation where Inga Fossa uses a portal to move back to Harsh Realm. Inga Fossa enters however Sophie is locked out. Fossa materialises in Santiago City where she informs Santiago of her plans of conquest. In Harsh Realm, Hobbes, Pinocchio and Florence attempt to gain forged ID chips so they can enter Santiago city and gain access to the portal. They find the man they need for the job, just as Walters and a team of commandos raid the building and capture Florence. The rest manage to escape through a glitch that leads them directly Santiago's barracks. Hobbes manages to break into the chamber where the portal is and with reluctant help from Inga Fossa, they enter. Fossa tells Hobbes that unless he kills Santiago now in Harsh Realm there would not be a world for Hobbes to return to as Santiago plans to destroy it. Hobbes decides to stay in Harsh Realm as Fossa gives him the letter Sophie wrote.
