Since 1996 there have been two sets of Mario fans: those who grew up on the NES/SNES and love 2D and those who grew up with an N64 (or later) and love 3D. In 2011, Nintendo finally merged together the worlds of 2D and 3D gaming, and did so in a wonderful way.
