昭和41年の大阪、通天閣に近い商店街に生まれた双子の姉妹、優等生の麗子と落ちこぼれだが将棋に才がある香子。本当の幸せを求めて悩む麗子と壁にぶつかりながらプロ棋士を目指す香子。悩みながら成長していく、対照的な姉妹の幸せ探しの姿を描いた。
