Saki and Niimi decide to head to the Temple of Purity, as Kaburagi declares war on the Monster Rats of Japan, promising to eliminate them. But the Fiend approaches, killing several humans, and confronts Kaburagi. Saki realizes the Fiend looks like Maria. Satoru appears, and tells Saki and Niimi that they have to leave as soon as possible, telling them that even Kaburagi cannot kill a Fiend. Kaburagi manages to evade the Fiend's first attack, but is soon killed by him. Saki and the rest run, confronting a Monster Rat who tells them that their race will now be the new rulers, and that their "Messiah" (the Fiend) was sent from the heavens to save them. They kill the rat, and Niimi tells them he must split up with them and go to the Town Hall. Saki and Satoru make it to the Temple of Purity, where they learn that Saki's parents have already been there, and plan to release the Impure Cats upon the Fiend.

野狐丸の策略により町は壊滅状態に陥り、かろうじて生き残った人々も、刻一刻とその数を減らしていた。富子との再会を果たし、悪鬼の出現を報告した早季だったが、もはや町を救う手立てはなかった。唯一残された手段は、町から離れた清浄寺に向かい、そこで態勢を立て直すことのみ。
一方その頃、悪鬼の出現を知らない鏑木肆星は、バケネズミの猛攻を寄せ付けず孤軍奮闘していた。圧倒的な呪力で、バケネズミの軍勢を蹴散らしていく肆星。だが、そこに悪鬼が現れたことで事態は急転する。町からの脱出を図っていた早季は、初めて間近で悪鬼の姿を目の当たりにするが…!?
토미코 씨의 말대로 쇼조지로 향하던 중 사키는 사토루와 재회한다. 그러나 재회의 기쁨도 잠시, 사키는 악귀와 마주하게 되고 그의 얼굴이 누군가와 닮아있음을 깨닫게 되는데. 악귀는 천천히 광장 가운데에 있는 시세이에게 다가가고 있었다.
惡鬼終於出現了，鎮子的人們還沒來得及反擊，就被惡鬼幹掉了。肆星為了給鎮長居民爭取逃走的時間，決定同惡鬼戰鬥，可是由於肆星先生受到攻擊抑制和愧死機構的影響是無法殺死惡鬼的，這種虛張聲勢的戰鬥被惡鬼識破也是早晚的事。正如覺推斷的一樣，肆星先生很快就死在了惡鬼手裡。
