Between bookbinding projects I will often take some time to make improvements to my workspace. This project is one that I've been meaning to get done for quite a while, so I thought I'd share it with you. It's a bit of a digression from some of my other videos, but to me it's an important part of the overall reality of being an independent artisan. Good art deserves a good artistic environment, and though my studio does sometimes get out of hand, I try to step back and reset from time to time, and take incremental steps towards my ideal. If you've been following me for a while then you probably know that I've been working on my leather tooling skills, learning as I go with a hodge-podge collection of homemade and second-hand tools. A pallet wheel was something I always wanted, but they're rare as hen's teeth in my part of the world, and the fancier designs were well beyond my ability to make myself.
