I wanted to take a 'recreation break' but after a couple of day I just wanted to start on the next one after all. So up next is Flying Dutchman (Vliegende Hollander) from Efteling!
Second episode. I start on the small plaza at the ride's exit. As you may have noticed. I used the penguins in the game because there was not suitable statues that fit's on the pillars. What you guys think? Is it acceptable?
In episode 3, the only thing I will be building is the first building called. 'Het Gulden Galjoen'
Up next, the white house next to the last building I made. In the next episode I may start with the coaster layout. Check out in the next couple of days.
It's base time! Here I start on the outside base wall including some surrounding scenery.
Up next is the next building of the exit facade. This building is called 'De Zandlooper'. Translated 'The Sand Walker' referring to the dunes where the coaster passes through.
Welcome to episode 07 Here is start on the first dark ride scene. Only the first boat though, because it's already a 30 minute video. Next boat and de rest in this scene will be in next video! Keep in mind, this scene is suppose to be watched in the dark, so lighting will also be done next video
Welcome to episode 08 As promised the second boat of the first dark ride scene. I tried a different wood piece as the hull of the boat to make it different with the first boat! Hope you all like it, I do
Welcome to episode 9 Efteling just opened the new single entrance. So I did as well. However I could not making it usable by the planco guests.
Up next, the first part of the entrance building. After about 5 hours work I decided to split it up in 2 part. So in the first part is just make the facade of the building.
As promised. The second part of the entrance building of the Flying Dutchman. I must say, I'm so proud of this one! One of my best buildings yet! Even if its just a recreation.
So after finishing the entrance building I had a suggestion to start on the plaza in front of it. And I did. This is the first part of the plaza, I'll finish it in the next episode!
Next building is the corner piece from the main facade. This will be a 2 part episode as the side of the building will be in the next video.
So as I said in previous video I'll finish the corner building. Because the video was rather short for just that, I also made the small building facade next to it.
After som requests I started on the Flying Dutchman encounter dark ride scene. I found a great picture of the scene with lights on and with the interior of the ship visible. I still may update the lightning sequences when I'm doing the POV.
You only spend 1 sec. in the Flying Dutchman tunnel after the drop. But that doesn't mean I don't want to detail it!
Now the brake shack is time to be build! And yes, I didn't build the stairs yet. this is coming later on..
I have ignored this task already to long. It's time to start on the station platform houses. It seems there are not many photo's of them online. Please let me know if you have any reference pictures of the other houses. In this video I start on the left side and first 2 houses!
Okay, next house on the left station platform is up. I couldn't fix 2 of these buildings in one video as I did before. So thats why its just the one. This house is called 'Drinkerij Oeverloos'. As you may have noticed. I placed the house in some kind of a 'set' so I could make better cinematics and screenshots with proper lighting. Otherwise I only would have dark cinematics with limited movement as its in such a small space now. Up next, is the 4th house in the row.
So, continuing the left station platform houses. I now have a shorter episode for just one house. Its the 4th house. Not sure how its called though. After this Ill continue on this platform side.
Last part of the left platform buildings. In this video I'll do the small waiting area including some of the platform poles and gates. Still some more props to be added later on.
Alright, it's time to start on the queue. Arguably one of the best themed coaster queues out there. So I need to get this one as good as possible with the pieces I have in the super compact space. Wish me luck! For this 1st room I had to remove the first wall. The one you directly face when you walk in and go to the left. Because of the many pieces I used on the custom windows, my wall and windows are much ticker and I didn't had room for the wall. I hope you all can forgive me :D
Next part of the queue is the small library. Used very much of the spooky pack items to get this result. Also all the book placed separate with some extra props. I know I still need to do the huge torn painting. Will do that next video.
After the 2 small rooms. You enter the secret tunnel. 'Smokkelgang' Didn't find alot of good photo's in this dark part of the queue. But I think I managed.
This small episode is the about the small stairs in the tunnel and storage room.
It's time to visit the pub! Called 'Drinkerij Oeverloos. Its the most iconic part of the whole queue.
For those who want can leave the pub and continue in the queue toward the 2nd storage room!
To be honest, I'm getting a bit burned out on interiors. As you may know, I don't like how the planco shadows. And there are no shadows at all based on interior lights. Because of that I don't like doing interiors anymore. But still I'm going to finish this as good as I can! So this episode I'll do the stairs and props on the platforms. Buildings on the right side and proper lighting is for later.
For now, I have enough of the interiors. Time for something else. Why not 'De Kombuys' food stand? This will be part one. The main building will be page here. In part 2 I'll finish the roof and the patio.
Second part of 'De Kombuys' food stand. However I do not finish it in this episode. I still need 1 more to do more surroundings and back side. Will be up next!
So I didn't expect to put so much time on this building. But here it is, 3rd and last part of De Kombuys.
Now I continue on the scenery. Doing the concrete trench and custom supports!
Up next is the area where most of the coaster layout is. I called it the dunes. including the custom supports etc.. Next episode I'll start with the back stage area.
More backstage stuff and a bit extra work on the plaza.
So, I started on the last bash of outside buildings. In this video I made the thin building left of the entrance. I did nice after I rendered the video I forgot the back side of the roof. So I'll do that later. For the attentive viewer, I also updated the entrance building roof ornaments with the new GB pack pieces.
I'm planning to finish all the remaining interior work first. So that means the station platform and the last queue part. In this video the 2nd house on the right platform side.
As promissed, the next building on the platform. After this there will be just 1 episode of the platform left.
Yep, I finished the whole interior station platform. It took me a lot more episode's than I anticipated. Anyway in this video I'll do the last 2 buildings on the right side.
This is the very last interior episode of my Flying Dutchman recreation, in this video the last room in the queue before you enter the station platform 'town'.
Finishing the outdoor queue section. It was not easy to find the right layout of the queue because it has changed alot the last couple of years.
Doing the last pathing and back side of the plaza. The 'Kapitein Gijs' statue is for a next video.
I made the small Kapitein Gijs area now. Was fun to recreate this! I did switch the animatronic from the pirate to the soldier at the end though.
Small episode in between, I didn't had much time this week because I'm working on my appartment at home. So here you are, the inside of the lifthill. I know it's not 100% as the real one but I liked how this looks. I also didn't include the video screen or night lighting, I wanted to keep that for my POV :D
This may be the last episode. So sit back and enjoy. Showcase video will be next!
Flying Dutchman is for me the best dark ride I have ridden. Even though it's mainly a coaster. I'm always impressed by how good the dark ride part is. Add to this the amazing theming of the whole queue line, station platform and outside and you have one great experience. Because of this I wanted to tackle this as a Planet Coaster recreation. I didn't expect that it would be such a long and big project but here we are. About 130 hours of work spread over about a year and over 73k ingame pieces. Note that the shore and height of the pathing is to high, partly because I miss calculated and partly because of the pathing limitations in the game. So you will see that 'De Kombuys' food court is way to high compared to the water. Something I noticed way to late in the project and couldn't fix anymore. Hope you all like it, a lot of work gone into this project and video(s) Special thanks to all those who helped with video and photo reference material and all the support during the project.
