Finest Hour is a BBC documentary series first aired in 1999 that depicts events in Britain in the early stages of World War II. Focusing on the year 1940, just before the entry of the U.S. in the war, British forces face Hitler's army alone in the face of possible defeat. The show, directed by Nick Read and narrated by Sue Johnston, takes the viewer through such momentous events as the evacuation at Dunkirk, the Battle of Britain, and Winston Churchill's "We shall never surrender!" speech.
