Cette série met en scène un groupe d'adolescents afro-américains vivant dans un quartier défavorisé de Philadelphie. Au fil des épisodes, ils font face à leurs préoccupations quotidiennes (famille, amis, études…) mais se questionnent également sur des problèmes de société (racisme, drogue, etc).

Albertone è un ragazzo molto grasso e simpatico, che con i suoi amici forma la band musicale Junkyard, i cui membri suonano strumenti fatti di oggetti riciclati. Nel corso delle sue peripezie, Albertone è coinvolto in numerose e buffe avventure, imparando numerose lezioni di vita nel tempo trascorso.

„Hey, hey, hey, it’s Fat Albert!“ Hier stellt sich uns nicht irgendeine Zeichentrickfigur vor, nein, es ist der äußerst liebenswerte und hilfsbereite Albert aus North Philadelphia, der zusammen mit Bill, dem personifizierten jungen Bill Cosby, auftritt. Zu Fat Albert und Bill gehören natürlich auch weitere „Gangmitglieder“: Bucky, Harold, Mushmouth, Russell und Rudy. Die Kids treffen sich vorzugsweise auf einem heruntergekommenen Schrottplatz am Rande der Stadt, der ihnen als Kulisse für viele komische und auch traurige Geschichten dient. Cosby folgt mit dieser Serie seinen eigenen Kindheitserinnerungen.

As Aventuras do Gordo Alberto e a Turma Cosby é uma série sobre um grupo de adolescentes urbanos crescendo num bairro Filadélfia. O desenho mostra uma turma de garotos, onde o comediante americano Bill Cosby é um dos integrantes. Há também Russell – irmão de Cosby – e mais seis outros garotos, cujas criações foram baseadas em amigos reais da infância do comediante. Inclusive o próprio Gordo Alberto, que foi dublado por Bill Cosby.
