Marisa, an ordinary magician, suspects a youkai is behind the winter weather in the middle of spring. She goes off to investigate and soon arrives in the netherworld, facing the youkai behind the strange incident. Will her friend, the shrine maiden Reimu, arrive in time to save the day or will all be lost?
Fantasy Kaleidoscope ~The Memories of Phantasm~ is a fan-made animated video series produced by Manpuku Jinja. The first episode, Fantasy Kaleidoscope ~The Spring Snow Incident~, was released at Comiket 80 on August 12, 2011, on DVD. Although the video lacked voice acting, numerous fandubs have been released since then.

2010年9月19日，滿福神社參加博麗神社例大祭SP（特別即賣會），這是他們初次參加東方project的同人展會。參展的東方同人音樂動畫作品取名為「幻想萬華鏡 ～The Memories Of Phantasm～」，選用的是與其一同參加的社團幽閉星光精心製作的新歌「色は匂へど散りぬるを」。
在此後的幾年中，滿福神社將“幻想萬華鏡”的名字沿用了下來，陸續推出4部PV（Promotion video，宣傳影像）以及11部同人動畫。所有劇集都沒有請聲優配音。即使如此，畫質、幀數達到了相當高度，人設圓潤相當多的角色胸圍遠超原作，戰鬥畫面簡短而華麗異常。[4]動畫劇情大體沿襲東方遊戲原作的故事情節，而在細節上有所自由發揮。每次發行正片前，製作組總是先釋出兩分鐘左右的預告片，往往拿靈夢有沒有穿胖次、八雲紫有走光鏡頭、魔理沙的性命危機等等作為賣點，大掉節操。
這個系列不可思議的高品質收穫了大量好評。有評論說，不但在東方同人動畫領域，“在獨立出版的範疇內恐怕也是最強的”。[5]有人還擔心其“過高的素質”導致製作週期過長（但是仍然遠遠快於《夢想夏鄉》系列），以至整個系列成為一個大坑。其每集結尾喜聞樂見的新作預告似乎更加印證了對滿福把坑越挖越大的擔憂。

Es ist schon lange Frühling, doch noch immer schneit es in Gensokyo. Marisa vermutet, dass dies das üble Werk eines Youkai ist. Doch da Reimu keine Anstalten macht, irgendetwas dagegen zu unternehmen, zieht Marisa alleine los um das Problem zu lösen.
