They are the first outsiders ever to enter this hidden world, which biologists have long believed could be home to spectacular new creatures. At an erupting volcano, a rare bird is discovered that depends on the hot ash for its survival. Discoveries inside the crater include two new species: a giant rat and a tree-climbing marsupial.
