Bright hat während der Arbeit so heftig mit einer Kollegin geflirtet, dass man ihn gefeuert hat. Zu Hause erzählt er jedoch, er habe gekündigt, um sich nach Aufgaben umzusehen, die ihn mehr fordern. Harold und Rose sind überglücklich und setzen alle Hebel in Bewegung, um ihm einen neuen Job zu besorgen. Dann erfährt Harold jedoch, dass Bright sie belogen hat. Ein Familienkrach ist unausweichlich.
Andy will Amandas Mann John helfen und verabreicht ihm ein neues Medikament, das in Verbindung mit Musiktherapie emotionale Reaktionen hervorrufen könnte. Er fährt mit Amanda und John in die Berge, wo die beiden sich verlobt hatten. Die Therapie scheint Erfolg zu haben: Während Amanda davon erzählt, wie einsam sie sich fühlt, beginnt John zu weinen. Amanda ist außer sich, doch Andy erkennt schon bald, dass die Träne nur eine Reaktion auf den kalten Wind in den Bergen war.
Ephram seeks guidance from his and piano mentor, Will Cleveland (guest-star James Earl Jones) when he's struggling to select the music program for his Julliard audition tape. Things don't go well for Ephram as he faces losing one of the most important relationships in his life after he accidentally hurts Will's feelings. Meanwhile, Bright takes a job working at the restaurant, "The Firehouse" where he meets waitress Serena. Things go bad though when they get caught by their boss in the most compromising position in the closet.
Lastly, Andy and Amanda experience a miraculous breakthrough in their music therapy with Amanda's husband (guest-star Jason Beghe), but Andy quickly questions the results.
Essayant de trouver une musique pour son audition à Julliard, Ephram demande conseil à son professeur de musique et mentor, Will Cleveland. Pendant ce temps, Andy et Amanda voient un avancée miraculeuse dans la thérapie par la musique qui doit guérir le mari d'Amanda. Mais Andy se demande vite s'ils ne se réjouissent pas trop vite.
Andy diventa nuovamente la star di Everwood quando, aiutando Amanda e il marito paralitico, riesce grazie alla sua terapia a far piangere l'uomo nonostante non rispondi più ad alcuno stimolo da oltre cinque anni. Nel frattempo, mentre Bright delude nuovamente il padre quando mente in merito al suo licenziamento, Ephram ha dei problemi con il suo maestro di musica.
Ephram está preocupado por su prueba para Julliar, por lo que pide consejo a Will acerca de que piezas presentar. Por otro lado, la vida de Bright se complica tras conseguir un trabajo como camarero y ser pillado por el encargado tonteando con otra empleada.
