ท่านชายวสวัต คือพญามัจจุราชที่แฝงตัวอยู่ในร่างมนุษย์เพื่อส่งวิญญาณบนโลกไปรับกรรม แต่ท่านเริ่มเบื่อหน่ายเพราะมีมนุษย์ทำบาปมากเกินไป จนท่านได้พบกับกลุ่มคนที่เคยสร้างกรรมร่วมกันไว้ในอดีตชาติ จึงต้องมาเกี่ยวข้องกันอีกครั้ง คือ เจริญขวัญ เด็กสาวขี้โรคที่มีจิตใจสูงส่ง อิศรา ชายหนุ่มผู้มีความดีความชั่วเสมอกัน และ ชาลินี หญิงสาวที่จิตใจเต็มไปด้วยกิเลสตัณหา
