Ederson: Beginnings lifts the lid on the Manchester City goalkeeper’s childhood and his earliest football experiences, featuring interviews with the man himself as well as his family and friends. We learn how he started out playing as a left-back, meet the coach who converted him into a ‘keeper, and find out more about his time in the academy of his hometown club, Sao Paulo, and the unexpected phone call which confirmed his release.
Ederson: Europe focuses on the Brazilian’s rise to prominence at Benfica and the subsequent move to Manchester City which has seen him establish himself as one of the best goalkeepers in the world. Featuring archive footage from his time in the Portuguese outfit’s youth set-up, the second instalment includes interviews with former manager Rui Vitoria and another Brazilian goalkeeper, Julio Cesar, as we explore how the young Ederson broke into the first team environment. We also here from the 28-year-old, Director of Football Txiki Begiristain, goalkeeper coaches Xabi Mancisidor and Richard Wright and several team-mates as the second half of the episode turns its focus to the impact he has had at City and what it is like to work with him.
In Ederson: Influence, the concluding episode of our three-part documentary, we look at the huge impact the Brazilian has had since arriving at City in 2017. Not only has he revolutionised City's style of play with his technique and ability, but he has also inspired a generation of young goalkeepers to use their feet and encouraged them to take risks. And we also spend time at home with Ederson, his wife Lais, their three children, Yasmin, Henrique and Laura...and three dogs! It's a rare glimpse into the life of our goalkeeper away from the pitch.
