Krystal and Ben moved back to their childhood neighbourhood with the goal of giving their five-year-old daughter the chance to grow up around her extended family, many of whom live close by. But the 1950s house they bought hasn’t undergone any significant renovations since it was built, and that’s a problem. While Ben is all in, Krystal is skeptical about their purchase, as the list of things to fix and remove - mould, asbestos, old wiring and plumbing, outdated windows - is daunting. When Drew and Jonathan open up the walls, they discover a few unwanted surprises that threaten to push the build way over budget, and shatter Krystal’s hopes of being the family hub for the holidays.
