Do It for Yourself was a Canadian how-to show, which featured Mary Bellows demonstrating basic home repairs and DIY projects around the house. Mary's charm and humour added to the realism of the show as quite often repairs/projects didn't always work out as they should, which engendered a sense among the viewers of "If Mary can do it so can I" and "if I make a few mistakes along the way, it's no big deal." The series aired 5 days a week, weekday afternoons on the CBC, and ran for 3 years over the course of 5 seasons. The series also aired on the USA network, Lifetime and PBS in the United States.
