The first of this 3-part series, we dive into the history of democracy, its birth and the US unique take on this form of government. It looks at some uniquely American challenges that limit US democracy such as hyper-partisanship, institutional constraints (gerrymandering, the Electoral College, voter registration) public apathy and cynicism, money in politics, and the public's media habits.
