In 1540, Ignatius of Loyola received Pope Paul III’s blessing to form a new religious institution that became known as the Society of Jesus, or the Jesuits. Through the centuries, their influence spread throughout the world, bringing with it education and religion as well as various intellectual and artistic pursuits. However, an intricate examination into the details of their long history may reveal a malevolence lurking beneath a benevolent façade.
