Krug Park was the site of the deadliest roller coaster accident in the United States prior to 1930. The park's "Big Dipper" roller coaster crashed on July 24. A bolt came loose at six o'clock, sending four cars—each carrying kids and teenagers—crashing to the ground. 15-year-old Ruth Claire Farrell, 34-year-old C.H. Stout, 22-year-old Tony Politika, and 29-year-old Gladys Lundgren were all killed, while 17 others were hurt.
