絵画教室で働く朝倉智史（大沢たかお）は、久しぶりに会った葛木唯衣（長谷川理恵）に、麻生沙絵（原田知世）という女性を紹介され、愕然となった。 以前、新進の日本画家だった智史は、ある公募展を前に、ライバル関係にあった葛木雅人（伊藤英明）の出展作品を密かに切り裂いたことがあった。その直後、雅人が自殺。罪悪感に苛まれた智史は、事件を境に筆を折っていたのだ。 その雅人の妹・唯衣に紹介された沙絵は、なんと雅人の婚約者だった女性であった。沙絵がまだ婚約指輪をはめているのに気付いた智史は、自分の犯した罪の深さを再認識して―。
