De enscenering van Richard Wagners Ring des Nibelungen door Patrice Chéreau voor het 100-jarig jubileum van het Bayreuther Festival in 1976 staat bekend als de legendarische Centenary Ring. De muzikale leiding was de dirigent en componist Pierre Boulez. De laatste uitvoeringen werden begroet met 90 minuten applaus en staande ovaties, en 101 curtain calls (een Bayreuth-record) en de Ring-productie van Chéreau en Boulez wordt nog steeds beschouwd als een maatstaf in de geschiedenis van de interpretatie van het werk.
