Daktari

Daktari ist eine populäre US-amerikanische Fernsehserie, die seit 1969 im deutschen Fernsehen ausgestrahlt wird. Die Serie wurde von dem amerikanischen Tierfilmer Ivan Tors produziert, der auch schon die Serien Flipper, Abenteuer unter Wasser (Sea Hunt, um den Taucher „Mike Nelson“), Sprung aus den Wolken (Ripcord) und viele weitere betreute. Die Erstsendung fand jeweils Samstag um 18 Uhr im ZDF statt, was zu Konflikten in diversen deutschen Familien führte, da die ARD-Sportschau zur gleichen Zeit lief. Daktari wird heute noch sehr oft auf privaten Kanälen wiederholt.

Daktari (Swahili for "doctor") was a television series that aired on CBS from 1966 to 1969, featuring Marshall Thompson as Dr. Marsh Tracy, a veterinarian at the fictional Wameru Study Center for Animal Behavior in East Africa. The show followed the work of Dr. Tracy, his daughter Paula (Cheryl Miller), and his staff, who were frequently forced to protect animals from poachers and local officials. Tracy's pets, a cross-eyed lion named Clarence and chimpanzee Judy, were also popular characters. Daktari was based upon the 1965 film Clarence, the Cross-Eyed Lion, which also starred Thompson as Dr. Tracy.

Vétérinaire, Marsh Tracy s'installe à Wamero, en Afrique, avec sa fille Paula. Il y dirige un centre d'étude sur le comportement des animaux. Dans cette réserve naturelle, ils s'efforcent de protéger la faune locale de braconniers mal intentionnés. Paula s'attache très vite à Judy, une guenon facétieuse, et Clarence, un lion atteint de strabisme.
