Organic Molecules Around Forming Planets | Karin Öberg

Organic molecules are essential for life. The Earth and the Solar Systems appears to have plenty but do planets around other stars have them as well? Planets still in the process of forming are usually accompanied by disks of left-over material and using the ALMA telescope we have started to probe the chemistry of these alien systems! Karin Öberg, a professor of astrochemisty, explains what we've learnt about extrasolar organic molecules so far. This is one of the videos shot at the American Astronomical Meeting in Texas, so apologies for the background sounds as people wander around nearby! ::More about this Video:: ► Öberg et al.
