In what appears to be the immediate sequel to Episode 6 of Trigonometric Functions, Ed and Charlie pass through a black hole and arrive outside a temple in ancient Greece. Inside the temple, they discover the cone from which all the conic sections are made.
The intersection of a cone with a plane running parallel to the cone's base, produces a circle. This program shows the formula for constructing a circle on the Cartesian plane.
Charlie says the word ""ellipse,"" and the temple reveals that planets revolve around the sun in elliptical orbits. This leads to a few sample ellipses drawn at the center of the Cartesian plane.
