Clarence a very short-sighted removals man meets Jane Travers who is a maid in the flat he is moving. He falls in love with her and asks her to marry him.
Travers agrees to marry Clarence, but only after a trial period with no hanky-panky, so they move into her Aunties cottage in the country.
Clarence and Travers move into the cottage and start doing it up to make it more habitable.
Clarence starts to tidy up the garden and sort out the hen house ready for the arrival of some hens.
Clarence gets a job at the local sewage works.
Clarence and Jane start work for Mrs. Titheridge and then finally get married.
