This week, Charlie sits down with iconic director and composer (and Full Moon friend) John Carpenter (HALLOWEEN, THE THING) to talk shop and then shares some space with super sexy social media starlet Dare Taylor.
Go further into the first Freakshow with this special bonus "sideshow" mini-episode. Listen to Charlie and special guest John Carpenter go deep discussing their first (and to date, only) collaboration in Charlie's utterly insane 1973 comedy Last Foxtrot in Burbank (1973). Tons of laughs and little know facts make up this awesomely entertaining Freakshow extra.
This week, Charlie welcomes John Logan, the Oscar nominated screenwriter who will be making his directorial debut later this year in Blumhouse's They/Them (2022). Joining John is Diana Prince from Shudder's The Last Drive-In with Joe Bob Briggs (2018).
This week, Charlie welcomes horror icon Bill Moseley, the actor who first found fame starring as Choptop, then found even greater success starring as Otis in a series of gnarly Rob Zombie shockers as well as dozens of other weird and wild genre movies. Then, model and influencer CJ Sparxx shows up to the party; she's the host of the popular podcast "Inside OnlyFans (2021)" and has been featured on multiple Playboy magazine covers and centerfolds. And it goes without saying that she's super hot.
This week, Charlie welcomes the one and only Tom Savini to the show. As a pioneering special makeup effects artist, he ushered in the "splatter" subgenre with his shockingly gory FX for George A. Romero's 1978 zombie masterpiece Dawn of the Dead (1978) and then kept breaking the rules throughout the 1980s with film like Friday the 13th (1980), Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter (1984), Day of the Dead (1985) and The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 (1986). As an actor, he has appeared in Romero's vampire drama Martin (1976), as "Sex Machine" in Robert Rodriguez's From Dusk Till Dawn (1996) and as a vicious slaver in Quentin Tarantino's Django Unchained (2012). And that's just scratching the surface. Get ready for a full hour of Savini awesomeness.
This week, Charlie sits down with the "man behind the mask" Kane Hodder, the stuntman turned thespian whose greatest claim to freaky fame is playing iconic slasher Jason Voorhees in a handful of the latter FRIDAY THE 13th sequels. But there's more to Kane than meets the machete, as Charlie soon finds out.
This week, Charlie welcomes a dynamic duo that's been setting the AEW wrestling world on fire for years, and they're even a couple in real life. Toronto born grappler Laura Dennis is better known as 'The Bunny' and her partner in and out of the ring is 'The Blade' (Jesse Guilmette), one half of the tag team The Butcher and The Blade. Best of all, they're both horror movie lovers and hardcore Full Moon fans. This vibrant chat is followed by an interview with supersexy influencer and burgeoning Full Moon starlet Lauren Nicole Smith.
This week, Charlie welcomes actor, producer, comedian, performer, best-selling author and horror culture icon Cassandra Peterson aka Elvira, Mistress of the Dark. Charlie and Cassandra have a long history collaborating together and their lives have crossed over in many surprising ways; this vibrant, funny and intimate chat is pure strange cinema bliss.
Last week's conversation with Cassandra Peterson was just so awesome and so packed with stuff that a single episode just couldn't contain it. We had to go big. So with that, in this second installment of our killer two-part chat, the Queen of Halloween and Charles Band talk about the early days of Elvira, her foray into filmdom and much, much more.
This week, Charlie welcomes a man who almost single handedly invented independent genre cinema, the legendary Roger Corman. Corman first made waves via his work in the 1950s and '60s with American International Pictures, and later, with his own companies New World Pictures, Concorde, New Concorde and New Horizons. He's made over 200 films and distributed hundreds more and along the way has discovered and nurtured such major talents as Francis Ford Coppola, Jack Nicholson, Dick Miller, Joe Dante, Martin Scorsese, Jonathan Demme, James Cameron and many, many more. He's a force of nature that refuses to stop making movies his way and we couldn't be more thrilled to have him on the Freakshow.
Charlie welcomes actress, producer and horror movie icon Barbara Crampton to the show. Barbara first found fame starring in early Full Moon films like Stuart Gordon's Re-Animator (1985) and From Beyond (1986) and would later appear in Puppet Master (1989), Castle Freak (1995) and more. She has also worked for Brian De Palma, Roger Corman, Adam Wingard and Rob Zombie while also finding fame as a daytime soap opera star. Recently, Barbara made a serious comeback as a bloodsucking housewife in the award winning comedy horror movie Jakob's Wife (2021) and she's got a number of awesome projects currently on the go. Get ready for another epic Freakshow chat.
In this first installment of an epic two-part chat, Charlie welcomes legendary film critic, author, writer, comedian, actor and tireless champion of all things weird, wild, wonderful and cinematically ridiculous, Joe Bob Briggs.
Last week's Freakshow guest was so awesome that we had to spread his gory gospel over two killer episodes. So with that, sit back, relax and get ready for the second installment of my epic chat with the one, the only Joe Bob Briggs.
This week, Charlie welcomes one of the founding fathers of transgressive cinema; a man who broke all the rules and managed to magically make high art out of bad taste. His early films like Pink Flamingos (1972), Female Trouble (1974) and multiple maniacs secured him a rabid cult following of weirdos and his more mainstream efforts like Cry-Baby (1990) and Hairspray (1988) made him a household name. He's a writer, director, author, world traveler, comedian and oracle of Trash movie culture. He's the immortal John Waters and we're excited to have him on the Freakshow.
This week's guest got his start - as so many other great talents did - working for Roger Corman during the heyday of New World Pictures, first with the spastic comedy HOLLYWOOD BOULEVARD and later with the ferocious Killer fish classic PIRANHA. He chased this early success with 1981’s THE HOWLING, widely considered the greatest werewolf movie ever made. And then came GREMLINS in 1984, the blockbuster film that almost single handedly spurred on the invention of the PG-13 rating. He’s one of the greatest horror and weird fantasy directors in history, he’s Joe Dante and we are honored to have him in the Freakshow!
On this special Freakshow "Sideshow" episode, we flashback to 2015 when our pal Roger Corman sat down with Charlie for an on-camera conversation about their mutually crazy careers, an encounter that was released on DVD and streaming as KINGS OF CULT, presented here now in audio format for the first time. It's a fun, informative precursor to Roger's recent appearance on the Freakshow and hey, we ALL need more Roger Corman in our lives, don't we?
This week Charlie welcomes award-winning screenwriter and noted film historian and preservationist Larry Karaszewski to the show. Along with longtime writing partner Scott Alexander, Larry co-penned such acclaimed pictures as Tim Burton's ED WOOD and BIG EYES; Milos Foreman's THE PEOPLE VS. LARRY FLYNT and MAN ON THE MOON; the Stephen King adaptation 1408 and Eddie Murphy's triumphant comeback picture DOLEMITE IS MY NAME as well as serving as co-director of the film DIRTY WORK, starring the late, great Norm MacDonald. All that awesomeness is barely scratching the surface of Larry's legacy!
This week, Charlie welcomes William Lustig - one of cult cinema's real deal heroes - to the Freakshow! As a director, Lustig made an instant splash in his early 20's helming the still shocking and controversial 1980 psychological slasher MANIAC, featuring gory effects by Tom Savini, and then continued evolving his craft with pictures like the MANIAC COP trilogy, the violent revenge thriller VIGILANTE and RELENTLESS. He also founded and still serves as the CEO of legendary home video label Blue Underground where he has spent decades rescuing and restoring some of the weirdest and coolest horror movies ever made.
This week's guest is not just an accomplished writer, producer, director and actor, he's also a brand unto himself, a contemporary master of horror. Eli Roth's first feature film, 2003's CABIN FEVER immediately established him as an auteur in the genre, a reputation solidified by the success of his merciless, blackly comic 2005 film HOSTEL and its even grislier sequel. Along the way, Eli has given us such savage films as the Italian cannibal film riff THE GREEN INFERNO, the remake of DEATH WISH with Bruce Willis taking over for Charlie Bronson and even the family fantasy film THE HOUSE WITH A CLOCK IN ITS WALLS. As an actor, you know him from Tarantino's INGLOURIOUS BASTERDS, where played the nazi-clubbing "Bear Jew"; more recently he ushered his hit documentary series ELI ROTH'S HISTORY OF HORROR to the small screen. Roth is a true multi-hyphenate and we're excited to have him on the Freakshow.
