Mr Bloom (Ben Faulks) takes a group of his “tiddlers” to see some real “nature magic” in an enchanting version of the Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale performed by the Northern Ballet. The dancers’ portrayals of their wildlife characters – frogs, cats and a fox as well as the ducks – are delightful and get their young audience giggling and copying their movements. Ugly Duckling was Northern Ballet's first ballet created for children and was choreographed by company dancers Dreda Blow and Sebastian Loe. The television adaptation of Ugly Duckling was commissioned by the BBC for CBeebies and was initially broadcast over Easter weekend.
Join Mr Bloom (Ben Faulks) and the Tiddlers for an exciting adventure as they try to solve a magical mystery; who is helping the Village Shoemaker make magical dancing shoes? Every night Mr Shoemaker leaves his tools and material ready for the next day’s work, and every morning he finds the new shoes are made. But these are not just any shoes! These are magical dancing shoes – clip clopping clogs, swirly waltzing pumps and shimmery shiny ballet pointes. Who is responsible for the magic? With the help of Mr Bloom and the Tiddlers, Mr and Mrs Shoemaker find out about their magical helpers and do some 'helping' too!
