Season 1

Seventeen-year-old Vanessa Ratcliffe, the daughter of wealthy, social-climbing parents, becomes pregnant and refuses to reveal the father's identity. This leads to a scandal and family tensions, with Vanessa's parents wrongly blaming Angus Cotton, a worker at her father's engineering company. Angus, initially denying the accusation, ultimately accepts responsibility and leaves his job to start his own business. Vanessa also leaves home, and their paths eventually lead them to a shared future.
