Amy goes away for the weekend with the Bohemian crowd. She is very much out of her depth, especially when the famous artist, Bartholomew, propositions her. However, when she publicly puts him in his place, she finds that the others are beginning to accept her as an individual with a point of view. Arthur develops a crush on a young barmaid in Ma's pub. But he soon learns that she has a problem - she is bringing up an illegitimate child of her own, and the child's father refuses financial support. Through various means, some devious, Arthur satisfactorily resolves the situation.
