November 1989: Kaum ist die Berliner Mauer gefallen, beginnen die Kämpfe um die Zukunft der eben noch geteilten Stadt und um die Verteilung der neu entstandenen Räume und Möglichkeiten. Eitle Provinzpolitiker, geschäftstüchtige Immobilienentwickler und kampferprobte Hausbesetzer aus dem Westen, aber auch freiheitssuchende jugendliche Techno-Pioniere aus Ost und West.
Sie alle versuchen, die Gunst der Stunde zu nutzen und zwischen Mauerbrachen, maroden Altbauten und den verlassenen Industrieanlagen eines untergegangenen Landes ihre Claims abzustecken. Für die Subkultur ist es ein kurzer Sommer, in dem alles möglich zu sein scheint.
Novembre 1989. À peine le mur de Berlin est-il tombé que la ville entame sa métamorphose : tout semble à réinventer. Que faire des friches de l'ancien no-man's-land qui la traverse comme une balafre, des immeubles délabrés de Berlin-Est occupés par des collectifs d'artistes et de marginaux ? Comment faire cohabiter les citoyens de l'ex-RDA avec les habitants de la singulière enclave occidentale ? Comment rénover au plus vite les infrastructures publiques de la ville ?
November 1989: The Berlin Wall has barely fallen when the battles over the future of the newly divided city and the distribution of the newly created spaces and opportunities begin: Vain provincial politicians, enterprising real estate developers, and battle-hardened squatters from the West, but also freedom-seeking young techno pioneers from East and West. They all try to seize the opportunity and stake their claims among the derelict Wall sites, dilapidated old buildings, and abandoned industrial plants of a vanished country. For the subculture, it is a brief summer of anarchy in which anything seems possible, in which utopia and chaos lie close together. But the old power elites of West Berlin put an abrupt end to this in a major police operation. The dream is over.
