Growing up, Jie En had one goal in life: to be as cool as the older boy who lived next door. A few years older than Jie En, Ye Hong was just your average young man. Too busy with his own life to bother with the kid next door, Ye Hong had fun teasing Jie En on occasion, but that was as far as his affection went. To Jie En, however, Ye Hong was everything he ever wanted to be and he looked up to his neighbor as if he were his actual older brother.

Enfant, Jie En n'avait qu'un seul but dans la vie : être aussi « cool » que le garçon qui vivait à côté de chez lui, de quelques années son cadet. Ye Hong était pourtant un jeune homme des plus ordinaire. Trop préoccupé par sa propre existence pour s'intéresser au gamin d'à côté, Ye Hong s'amusait parfois à taquiner Jie En, mais son affection n'allait pas plus loin. Pour Jie En, par contre, Ye Hong représentait tout ce qu'il aspirait à devenir, et il admirait son voisin comme un véritable grand frère. Évidemment, Jie En fut bouleversé quand Ye Hong annonça qu'il partait bientôt pour faire ses études à l'étranger.
Crescendo, Jie En tinha um objetivo na vida: ser tão legal quanto o garoto mais velho que morava ao lado. Alguns anos mais velho que Jie En, Ye Hong era apenas um jovem comum. Muito ocupado com sua própria vida para se preocupar com o garoto da casa ao lado, Ye Hong se divertia provocando Jie En de vez em quando, mas isso era tudo o que sua afeição ia. Para Jie En, no entanto, Ye Hong era tudo o que ele sempre quis ser e olhava para o vizinho como se fosse seu irmão mais velho de verdade.
