In Virginia City erwartet man die Ankunft der populären Schauspielerin Lola Fairmont. Als Hoss ihr entgegenreitet, wird er Zeuge, wie sie in Notwehr ihren Ex-Liebhaber tötet. Aus Verehrung für den Star nimmt er die Schuld auf sich. Er gerät damit ins Visier von Senator Bennett. Der will den Tod seines Sohnes rächen.
