Als Menschen zur Jagd in den Wald kommen, soll es den Eichhörnchen an den Kragen gehen. Da beschließt der alte Uhu, für sie Wache zu stehen und gerät unversehens vor eine Flinte. Ein Schuss peitscht durch den Wald, und entsetzt müssen Puschel und die anderen Eichhörnchen sehen, wie der treue Freund stirbt.
Hunters are visiting forest. They kill and disturb animals. Gocha got frightened by Owl - wise friend of Banner. No matter that Owl doesn't even touched him, Gocha complained about him to Banner. Banner asks Owl not to eat any squirrels, but it angers Owl and he makes hard decision - to end friendship with Banner, friendship that has gone too far for an rodent and predator. He frightens Banner by attacking him, but feels very sorry later. Banner is suffering as well - he lost one of his best friends. Owl asks for forgiveness, but Banner did not listen to him. Nevertheless, Owl decides to warn squirrels when he sees hunters are nearby. In attempt to save Banner from certain death he got bullet meant for Banner. Later he dies calmly surrounded by his friends grieving.
