This lecture explores art that defies traditional categorization as painting or sculpture. Beginning with Joseph Cornell and the advent of assemblages as art, we move to Op art and Pop art, examining a number of works that transform preconceived notions of painting and sculpture, ""art"" and ""commerce,"" and representations of people versus the people themselves.
