Jase, Simon and Jesse are heading back east into the gold country. Their journey begins at Palmerville Station, out near historic Maytown, in the Palmerville River region. They are warmly welcomed by Kerrie and Frog, the caretakers of this historical haven, who share their knowledge of the huts and the tin mining on the property. With a bit of daylight left, the team ventures out to explore the remnants of the old mine, marvelling at the rusted gear and intriguing core samples. Having just hopped out of their ATV, it is a thought-provoking experience to consider the journeys of those who came in the 1870s, who traversed from Cooktown on foot with wheelbarrows and picks. It’s a stark contrast to the modern machinery of today!
