Pacific Rim National Park lies within Vancouver Island on the western coast of Canada. Protecting miles of coastline and dense forest it is also home to one of the world's most sought after backpacking routes, the West Coast Trail. Join Alice as she starts the trail and begins her 50 mile journey south.
Alice heads to Montana to explore Glacier National Park. She visits several of the areas within the park on a several day hiking and driving tour. She takes us to Read Eagle Lake for an overnight camp out, to the Mount Brown Fire lookout to learn about mountain goats and see the views of the glacial lakes and through the rain to visit one of the parks many glaciers.
Alice visits Moab Utah. Over several days we explore Arches National Park hiking to Delicate arch, exploring the fiery furnace and many of the parks best features. Next we head to Canyonlands to drive up the Shafer trail, an exciting 4 x4 trail, and hike to an ancient archeological site. Along the way stopping to explore a waterfall and visit one of the best arches outside a national park.
Catalina Island is located off the coast of southern California, part of the channel islands, it is home to bison and island fox. In this episode Alice crosses the Pacific Ocean to hike the trans Catalina Trail. A backpacking trail that traverses the island's most beautiful locations, camping in the woods and along the beach.
Located in the California desert Joshua Tree National Park protects some of the most important desert habitat in California. Alice heads to the park to show us some of the best trails and points of interest in the park. Highlighting some old historical sites like Keys Ranch, walking through a slot canyon, driving some 4 x 4 trails, and showcasing some of the great camping in the park.
Alice visits Sequoia National Park in the Spring to see the world's largest trees, then transitions to summer in the eastern sierras to hike to alpine lakes and summit the tallest mountain in the lower 48 states. Mammoth Lakes under the fall colors and Yosemite National Park in winter, where snow has transformed the park's peaks and valleys to a winter wonderland.
Alice takes us to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park which straddles the border of Tennessee and North Carolina during winter. Taking us to hike to its highest point, Clingmans Dome, walk to waterfalls in the lowlands of Deep Creek and drive the Roaring Fork Motor Trail as we learn about the rich history and prevalent wildlife of America’s most visited National Park.
