Als Beifahrer hat sie den Geschäftsmann Ed bei sich. Susanne bietet Tom an, ihn zur Dienststelle zu fahren. Er nimmt das Angebot an, steigt ins Auto und das Drama beginnt: Das Gaspedal hat sich verklemmt, das Auto rast dahin. Über Handy erfährt Semir, dass sein neuer Kollege in Gefahr schwebt. Es gelingt, die Strecke zu räumen. Es besteht die Gefahr, dass das Auto in einer lang gestreckten Kurve von der Fahrbahn fliegt. Tom riskiert sein Leben, als er versucht, die Benzinleitung abzureißen. Der Versuch geht schief. Zwar konnte die gefährliche Kurve vermieden werden, doch nun rasen sie auf eine geöffnete Klappbrücke zu, von der der Regierungspräsident behauptet, dass sie defekt sei.
