天堂鳥是一種勇敢而美麗的鳥，它追求光明，終生繁繞太陽飛舞，直至倦亡方休，這種鳥就好比香港人，不畏困難，契而不捨，終生為追尋幸福而努力。劇中的女主角，再一次暴動中家庭破碎，遂立志發奮掙扎，先後結識富有的白馬王子，貧困的的士司機，落泊的黑市拳手，豪放的黑社會頭子，她周旋其中，由不經世故而逐漸成熱，最後嫁入豪門，與專橫跋扈的婆婆及精明厲害的小姑展開激烈鬥爭。
