מחלקת צנחנים בפיקודו של שאול שיראזי נשלחת להקים מחדש בסיס ישן בבקעת הירדן. הבסיס קרוי "החמאם" על שם אתר המרחצאות הקדום שנמצא בוואדי הסמוך. רצף אירועים מסתוריים מביאים את שאול לחשוב שקללה מחרפת מעל הבסיס ונפשו מתחילה להתערער. שאול נעזר בדודי, החייל הכי צנוע וביישן במחלקה, וממנה אותו להיות סגנו. דודי צובר כוח על חשבון שאול ומתחיל להנהיג את המחלקה. ככל שכוחו גדל כך גם יצריו האפלים איתם הוא מנסה להתמודד - ואולי זו בעצם הקללה, שכעת משתלטת עליו.
