二十一集电视连续剧《西施》以饱含情韵的笔触为我们描绘了两千多年前那个动乱的年代。“春秋无义战”，越王勾践和吴王夫差两个君王之间的生死角斗构成了一幅惊心动魄而又回肠荡气的历史书卷。西施作为一个美女、一个亡国的女奴，心怀着国仇家恨、肩负着君王的委托，来到了吴国，去完成一项本不该她负担的使命。但在这吴、越争霸的激烈斗争中，她逐渐发现了她原来恨的也许是不该恨的，而爱的也许是不该爱的。她所认为的对与错变了位。最终她选择了自己的所爱，但是命运却不允许她得到幸福。这位苎罗山下的浣纱女，在勾践率越国大军占领吴都姑苏城时，却怀着一腔怨恨，在灵岩山断肠崖上结束了自己的生命！
