藤子不二雄の同名マンガの実写版。修行の為に伊賀の里からやってきたハットリくんが、ケン一の家に居候、様々な騒動を巻き起こす。『怪獣王子』に出演した野村光徳・好徳が黒装束を着てハットリくんを演じたが、声は熊倉一雄の吹き替えで、顔は表情別に作られた複数の面で表現された。１４話より放映曜日と時間帯が水曜１９：３０～２０：００に変更された。脚本の服部半蔵は井上ひさしと山元護久の合作ペンネーム。
