小镇少年沉香（曹骏饰）和父亲刘彦昌（刘小锋饰）一直都生活的很平静，直到有一日，沉香意外发现自己体内居然蕴含着“法力”，能够不费吹灰之力的穿墙而过。父亲得知后，告诉了沉香掩藏了多年的事实，那就是沉香的母亲其实是天上的三圣母（朴美萱饰），因为违反天规，和身为凡人的自己成婚，被天庭抓取，不知去向。得知真相的沉香无比震惊，决定排除万难解救自己的母亲。将一切看在眼底的二郎神（焦恩俊饰），也就是沉香的舅舅，决定阻止沉香的救母之旅。 于是，这场困难重重的救母之行在二郎神的干扰中拉开序幕。征程上，沉香邂逅了许多善良的人精怪，也遇到了各种阻力，甚至想要放弃过。但最终都抵不过救母的决心。
