累計発行部数1600万部を超える中村光の同名コミックを原作にしたコメディードラマの第3弾。染谷演じる目覚めた人・ブッダ、そして松山演じる神の子・イエスの2人が、東京・立川でアパートをシェアし、下界でバカンスを過ごす日常生活をつづる。前シリーズに引き続き監督・脚本を福田雄一が、山田孝之が制作統括としてプロデュースを担当する。 “第III紀”では、ブッダとイエスが漫才コンテストに挑むためネタ作りに励んだり、暑さをしのぐため入ったファミレスで長時間ねばってみたり、カラオケボックスで一心に読経をしたりする。
