en years later, the captain of the Carabinieri Maria Guerra finally returns to his hometown, in Puglia. A choice certainly not dictated by his career, in fact leaves Rome because of his restless eighteen-year-old daughter, Luce, who ended up in a circle of wrong friendships. Maria hopes that the more limited commitment of a provincial command will finally leave her the right space to be a mother both to Luce and to Riccardo, the youngest son. But to convince the woman there is also a deeper motivation: ten years earlier, in that city, her husband, a magistrate of the juvenile court, lost his life. Maria is convinced that it was not an accident, but that the death of her husband hides something and wants to go all the way. The promise of a quieter life, however, will soon be betrayed. From the first day of work, Captain Guerra will have to face a brutal criminal organization that could endanger the lives of his children.
