Georges Lancier est un ancien mercenaire qui s'est engagé au service de causes douteuses. Il cherche à se réhabiliter à ses propres yeux en aidant son ami africain Diwo à servir son pays, le Boutaïre. Mais les initiatives de Diwo déplaisent au colonel Mamba, le chef du gouvernement dont il est l'adversaire politique.
